Cancel your 1and1 hosting account by email

If you ever want to cancel your 1and1 hosting account via email instead of calling and talking to a human, here is what you have to do.

I initiated the process by sending an email to the billing department so the first item shows the email I received in response. I've blanked out sensitive information about this account. In Step 8, it took about 30 minutes to receive the email with the cancellation link. The response to clicking that link was nearly instantaneous.

Thank you for contacting us.

If you wish to cancel your 1&1 package, feature, or domain please visit https://cancel.1and1.com and use your Customer ID and password to login.

At the end of the process you will need to activate your request. In order to do so, you will receive an e-mail message with a special link which you will need to click to complete the process.

If you do not receive the e-mail with the confirmation link e-mail within a few hours of completing the cancellation, please notify us ASAP.

Please note that if you do not receive this e-mail and click on the link within (7) seven days of the request, your cancellation request will not complete and your services will remain active.

Any refund will be based on our refund policy per the terms and conditions of your account and will be processed within 14 days of your cancellation requests effective date.

You have to jump through these hoops to cancel your account, and I'm sure the process is tedious to keep someone from maliciously deleting your work.

 

Step 1. Login to your account

The first step is to log in to cancel.1and1.com. You'll need to have your account login information.

 

Step 2. Cancellation Options

Click the Cancel text under Options on the left.

 

Step 3. Select your package

Your hosting packages are shown and the Cancel text is bolded. Click on the package you want to cancel.

 

Step 4. Cancel and Continue

Click the radio button and then Continue.

 

Step 5. Cancel entire contract

In this case, the entire contract is being cancelled. Choose a cancellation date and click Continue.

 

Step 6. Finish request

Repetition is good in this case …

Important: You will shortly (sic) an e-mail containing a specific website link. To activate your cancellation request and complete the process you must follow the link e-mailed to you. Your cancellation will not be completed until you have confirmed the cancellation request by following the special link emailed to you. If you do not activate your request within the next 7 days, your cancellation will be discarded and your contract will remain active.

 

Step 7. Activate cancellation request

When you get to this screen, you can now Logout. To process your cancellation request, you MUST respond to the email.

Please note: Your cancellation will not be completed until you have activated your request by accessing this website link and confirming the cancellation request. If you do not receive an e-mail with the cancellation confirmation link, please contact our Billing Team at billing@1and1.com.
