Electronic Products at ClickBank

Sunday, February 10th, 2008

One place that you can find products to promote is the ClickBank Marketplace. If you are not familiar with ClickBank, all the products there are electronic, meaning that they can be downloaded directly to your computer once the purchase is completed.

Typical products are ebooks and software. At last count, there were about 27,000 products available.

The majority of sales at ClickBank are made by affiliates. Once you have set up an account, you can pick one or more of the huge number of products that you would like to promote (i.e., advertise).

You earn a commission on sales that come through you affiliate link. Affiliate links are generated automatically for you so you only have to copy and paste them. An affiliate text link looks like this:

http://AFFILIATE.product_ID.hop.clickbank.net

You also get a copy and paste link that you can use on your website that looks like this:

<a href="http://AFFILIATE.product_ID.hop.clickbank.net" target="_blank">Click Here!</a>

Replace AFFILIATE with your ClickBank affiliate name, and you can also replace the Click Here! text with any text that you like. The text will appear as a clickable link.

Both these link formats take your prospect to the sales page of the product you are promoting, and the AFFILIATE part of the link tells ClickBank that you get a commission if the prospect purchases the product.

Free Website Builder from NetObjects Fusion

Wednesday, January 30th, 2008

If you are looking for a solid  program you can use to build your own websites, and it has to be free, get a copy of NetObjects Fusion Essentials.

I downloaded the program for myself to check out, and the software works fine so I don’t hesitate to recommend it to you. I also recommend that you definitely get the free software and test it out before you think about upgrading which is not free.

Since I liked the free program, I did upgrade to Fusion 8 for just $14.95. The latest version of the program is Fusion 10 (you can upgrade to this version for about $110), but I don’t see how you can do better than $15 bucks for a program of this quality.

I recommend you upgrade to Fusion 8 from Fusion Essentials if you want more power and options.

One feature of NetObjects Fusion software that might be important to you is the availability of website templates that make it easy for you to add your own content and finishing touches without having to write HTML or CSS code. Tutorials are also available to walk you through the process of building your own website.

NetObjects Fusion Essentials is more powerful than any other free program I have seen, although not as powerful as Dreamweaver.

However, I would say that both Fusion Essentials and Fusion 8 are certainly easier for beginners and non-professionals to use. Not to mention $100s less expensive!

“Recession-Proof Your Online Biz” by Jim Edwards

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008

In this timely article, Jim Edwards offers his suggestions about how you can keep your online business profitable even in a down economy. You know the economy (that’s most of us!) is seeing some tough times right now, unless of course, you are rich.

Warren Buffet, ever the Sage, says, "If you can’t afford to lose 50% of your investment, you should not be in the market. " And who among us can’t afford that.

Ok, unless you live under a rock and get you news by carrier pigeon, most people know the USA currently teeters on the brink of recession.

Though I maintain my own opinions about what this will actually mean to the average person, there’s no denying that the economy may slow down and sales may slack off a bit.

So, in order to prevent this possible downshift in the economic engine from affecting you, I offer the following advice to help recession-proof your online business.

*See It To Believe It*

No matter what you sell, you can use video to demonstrate either what you sell or the results customers should expect.

Product, service, software - it doesn’t matter. You can either use full motion video or screen capture video to "show and tell" people why and how your offering helps them. (more…)

Make a Wordpress Video Blog Sales Letter in 15 Minutes - Almost

Saturday, January 12th, 2008

If you don’t know Mike Stewart aka the Video Guy, you might want to take a look at this video on his blog. I met Mike a couple years ago and he is a real guy who knows what he is talking about. This video starts off with Mike telling you that you gotta have a product to sell if you expect to make money. "Ain’t it the truth, ain’t it the truth" to quote a certain cowardly lion.

Mike shows how to make a Wordpress video sales page. Of course, Mike has something to sell too, but you could get some knowledge and maybe an idea you can use from watching his video without buying anything, and any time you can learn something for free, it’s worth a look.

That part about 15 minutes - well maybe you could make a video Wordpress blog in that time if (a) you are more or less familiar with Wordpress, and (b) you already have a video that you can use for a sales letter.

ClickBank Dormant Account Fees

If you have a ClickBank account that is not producing earnings on a regular basis, you might not be aware that you could be losing money. ClickBank charges a fee for accounts that are inactive. The fee increases with as the duration of inactivity increases. "Accounts with a positive balance but no earnings for an extended period of time are considered dormant.

Dormant accounts are subject to a charge of $1 per pay period after 90 days of inactivity, $5 per pay period after 180 days of inactivity, and $15 per pay period after 365 days of inactivity." You can check your account by logging into ClickBank. From the Account Home tab, simply click the Reporting tab and you can view any Debits from your account. For more information on ClickBank’s Accounting Policy, click the ‘click here’ link in the paragraph below Welcome to ClickBank! on the Account Home page.
